Numerous CPU models are available for Series 90-30 PLCs which differ in the speed, size of user memory, I/O capacity, and advanced features that they have. The 2 types of available CPUs are embedded and modular CPUs. Embedded CPUs offer the benefit of low costs but they lack the power and versatility of modular CPUs. The embedded CPUs are part of an embedded CPU baseplate in which the CPU and memory chips are soldered to the backplane board of the baseplate.
