The IC693BEM340 FIP Bus Controller Module is designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to serve as an interface between a Series 90-30 I/O network and the system’s central PLC. It is intended for installation in the same rack as the programmable logic controller and also to be fed from the same power source. Using a GE Fanuc IC693BEM340 FIP Bus Controller Module will not only allow for the communication of the I/O network to the system's central PLC but also to provide safe storage space for the field device’s configuration data and it can be used as a centralized troubleshooting platform. The front side of the module has 6 LEDs near the top, 2 serial ports for the FIP (Factory Instrumentation Protocol) network connections, and an additional RS-485 serial port for configuration.
