It serves as a connection point and communication interface for the Genius I/O hosts to send and receive discrete, analog, or special-purpose signals to the Series 90-30 or 90-70 PLCs to control industrial machinery or application processes. Up to 31 GE Fanuc IC693BEM334 Genius Bus Controllers can be connected to an individual Series 90-30 or 90-70 PLC, with each one forming an independent Genius Bus network or branch that is able to communicate with the PLC but not with another similar networks or branches.
