GE Memory Cartridge 16K CPU, RAM Series Five

The IC655MEM503 Memory Cartridge is a 16K CPU RAM manufactured by GE Fanuc to use with the GE Series Five modules. It is available with a battery for backup. The IC655MEM503 Memory Cartridge has a buffer area that stores the source code of a program. The program name, timestamp, and date stamp are also stored with the user program inside the memory cartridge. This compact, plug-in cartridge is battery-backed with a lithium battery for maintaining the memory when the power is interrupted. The memory drains a small amount of power from the battery while maintaining the memory for 2 to 5 years. It ensures efficient system operation by storing the system parameters, configuration parameters of other devices, and the operating system.
