The GE Fanuc IC600YB800 is a Parallel Receiver. It can function in all Series Six I/O stations and may be used in all I/O racks with the exception of the first rack in a remote I/O station. This reduces the spare-parts inventory needed when using this unit. Its primary use is to provide an interface between the CPU and I/O modules. This is used to transmit address, data, and control signals. Furthermore, the parallel receiver acts as the link in a chain to other I/O racks. Among its features are status LEDs, which are visible through the face-plate of the module. When an error is detected, these LEDs shut off. This simplifies troubleshooting. Unlike the 800B model, which comes with shunts in the terminating rack, the IC600BF800A requires a little conversion work.
